Shakiyla Sincere

Shakiyla Sincere graduated from Howard University in 2013 with a BS in Psychology and a BA in Administration of Justice. After graduation, she transitioned from a Historically Black University to a Predominately White Institution and witnessed a pressing need for social justice education among the student body. In May 2017, she received an MS in Forensic Science from Syracuse University with a concentration in Psychiatry and Jurisprudence. She is currently the Assistant Director of Housing and Diversity Education at George Mason University and a Ph.D. student in the School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Her research focuses on American race and racism; specifically, as it relates to curbing racial bias in community policing by developing an intergroup dialogue-based intercultural competence training program that becomes the national standard. Her Gallup strengths include Relator, Harmony, Input, Maximizer, & Intellection.

When she is not binge-watching trash TV shows, cooking tasty food, or writing spec scripts no one will ever read, she likes to travel and spend time with friends and family. A quote that reflects her professional mantra (and overall being, to be honest) is by Audre Lorde: “I am deliberate and afraid of nothing.”
